The only thing more seductive than a new knitting book, to me, is yarn. By nature it is tactile, alluring, inviting to both the senses and the imagination. Colors, textures and possibilities in every skein or hank.

Yarn companies are always improving or reinventing our favorite yarns; how is a frugal knitter supposed to keep up with the trends and seasonal varieties? What if you live far from the nearest yarn store; buying yarn by mail order lacks the fulfillment and 'sixth sense' of being there and touching.
