Warm, elastic, and easy to knit, everything we love about wool with the consistent quality we've come to expect from Rowan.

All my knitting life I've knit almost exclusively with wool. No wonder I got a bit burnt out. Still, when I think 100% pure wool, I think Rowan first.
I mostly do mail order purchasing of yarn, and I know when I place my order that I'll always be pleased with what I get when I order from Rowan. The colors are divine (witness Rowan's "poster child" Kaffe Fassett's wonderful use of the huge Rowan palette), the quality of the spinning is consistent, and the pattern support for each and every yarn is excellent.
My family has grown weary of my wool creations, except for socks and hats, and this DK weight Rowan is perfect for both. Knit it up on size 6 needles and you can't go wrong; experiment with a smaller needle for a more wind-resistant mitten, for example.
As for me, there is still nothing cozier than curling up in a wool sweater and socks under a wool blanket. My wool hats never fail me in a Canadian winter, and wool mittens will always be my favorite for keeping my fingers toasty.
If like my family you've become a bit weary of wool, try this DK weight plied yarn. It is not so bulky as worsted, and the tight plies are not fuzzy at all. Even a somewhat loose knitter as myself can knit a lovely, even fabric. And of course, as always, knitting with wool is the easiest and most pleasurable way to knit a nicely fitting garment, thanks to wool's natural elasticity.
