Soft cotton/nylon yarn that knits up quickly with a nice loft on #8 needles.
Here I am again, feeling obligated by the season to review a cotton yarn even though I don't usually like knitting with cotton.
This cotton has volume and a lot of spring in its step. A sweater knitted up in Tara weighs about 2/3 of a normal 100% cotton sweater. I've read reviews that compare it to cashmere. I won't go that far, but I have to admit, it has its finer qualities.
I'm realizing that I've got dry skin and one complaint I've had with cottons is that they seem to just suck the moisture out of my hands. Wool that isn't highly processed still has natural lanolin in it.
This yarn is machine washable. I'm thinking 3-season Lopi-type sweaters because this is thick stuff.
If you enjoy knitting with thicker yarn that knits up to 4 sts/in. on #8 needles, this is a kinder gentler cotton that you are sure to enjoy using.
Normally it sells for $7.50 a 110 yard skein, but at YarnCountry it's on sale right now (June 2008) for $6.
